The Essence Of The Taro

by an Anonymous Author

Introduction

Everything is equally divine, from the vegetables we eat at dinner, the animals we care for as pets, to the mysterious deity we worship. These things are all God manifesting or God unfolding. We have a deep responsibility to Life. It is our privilege, to realize this truth. And through this realization, to break the magical illusion of false Ego, which binds us to the idea that there is an I and something else. When in truth there is nothing else. There is one thing. This one thing, manifests itself in many appearances, emanating into infinite diversity. Regardless of this diversity, there is still only this one.

It is the purpose of this document, to share a key to the major arcana of the Taro. To light a lamp on the path of evolutionary development. This is not a thorough examination of the imagery and symbolism of the Taro, but will assist in unlocking the potential of this powerful tool.

In the major arcana of the Taro, there are 22 numbered images or cards, though one card does have a value of 0, so there are actually 21 major arcana. Within the series of these we can find one of the several keys to the major arcana, by following the sequence of the numbers of the cards.

Within the series of the major arcana, there are seven ternaries. The seven ternaries together show three septenaries. Each septenary will show to have a specific relationship among its images and their qualities. Through the seven ternaries and the three septenaries, the progression of the major arcana will unfold.

This key will be demonstrated in accordance with the Tetragrammaton, the law of four, and its connection to the Tree of Life. The law of four is revealed to us in the mystic decad. 1+2+3+4 = 10 = 1+0 = 1. Further yet the septad will also return us to one. 1+2+3+4+5+6+7 = 28 = 2+8 = 10 = 1+0 = 1. The value of the septad, 28, divided by four is seven.

Yet there are only 21 cards in the major arcana, forming the three septenaries. A clue lies in The Emerald Tablet of Hermes. Chiram Telat Machasot, i.e. Chiram the Universal Agent, One in Essence, but three in aspect.1; These three aspects, will be shown in the relationships of the images with the three septenaries. Together, through the idea of union, the 21 major arcana of the Tarot become one.

Having come to realize our wonderful responsibility to Life, we begin on the ascending path of involution. We are no longer manifestations of intelligent animals, but evolving formations that much closer to reintegration with the absolute.

Now, as I write this, I do not claim to be a master, but a student on the path. At this moment the ideas in this text are the understanding I have of the major arcana of the Taro. I write this with hope that these ideas may help bring clarity and illumination to another at their particular point of the path.
